Infant Boy in Critical Condition Following Two-Vehicle Crash in Co. Louth

DUNDALK, CO. LOUTH — An infant boy is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision on the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, on Saturday evening.  

The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 pm on Saturday, December 6. Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene.  

The infant, a passenger in the first car, was immediately transported to the Children’s University Hospital in Temple Street, Dublin, where his condition is described as critical.  

Three other individuals involved in the collision suffered non-life-threatening injuries:  

  • First Car Driver: A woman in her late 20s, who was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.  
  • Second Vehicle Driver: A man in his early 50s, who was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.  
  • Second Vehicle Passenger: A female teenager, who was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.  

The R132 remains closed at the scene while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination. Local diversions have been put in place.  

Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
