DUBLIN/CORK – Ireland celebrates Christmas 2025 under a “cold but gold” winter sky. While a traditional White Christmas remained elusive, a strong high-pressure system has gifted the country with crisp, sunny conditions, setting a perfect stage for outdoor festivities.

Weather: The “Big Chill” Continues

Met Ɖireann reports a dry and bright Christmas Day across most of the country. Daytime highs are averaging 4 degree to 7 degree, but moderate northeasterly winds are creating a significant wind chill, particularly along the east and south coasts. A Yellow Frost Warning is in place for tonight as temperatures are expected to plunge to -3 degree.

2025 Festival Highlights: A New Look for Dublin

TwinkleTown at Smithfield: With the popular Dublin Castle market on hiatus for 2025, TwinkleTown in Smithfield Square has emerged as the capital’s new centerpiece, featuring a massive ice rink and vintage fairground rides.

Dublin Loves Christmas (RDS): A major new addition at the RDS, Ballsbridge, offering a Bavarian-style market and one of the country’s largest indoor festive hubs.

Winterval (Waterford): Celebrating its 13th year, Ireland’s largest Christmas festival continues to dazzle with its iconic 32-meter “Waterford Eye” and synchronized drone displays.

Regional Gems: The Galway Continental Market at Eyre Square and Corkmas in Cork City remain bustling hubs for local crafts and festive street performances.

šŸ‡®šŸ‡³ Malayali Community: Traditions Across Borders

The Irish-Malayali diaspora has combined deep-rooted spiritual traditions with Irish festive cheer:

Ecumenical Services: The “Melodia 2025” carol night in Cork and similar gatherings in Dublin brought together various Christian denominations for traditional Malayalam carols and cultural events.

Midnight Mass: Churches in Blanchardstown, Tallaght, and Limerick saw record attendance for Malayalam services, followed by community feasts featuring Kerala delicacies and Christmas cake.

EireNow wishes all its readers, the Malayali diaspora in Ireland, and their families back home a very Happy and Blessed Christmas. May this season bring peace, health, and prosperity to every household.
