LIMERICK – A multiple-vehicle collision on the M7 motorway has caused significant traffic delays on the outskirts of Limerick city. The incident, which occurred just after 8:40 AM on Monday between Junction 29 (Ballysimon) and Junction 30 (Rosbrien) heading westbound, is currently being managed by emergency services.

According to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the hard shoulder, lane 1, and lane 2 were all affected, leading to a considerable build-up of traffic in the area. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes or delay their journeys if possible.

While the full extent of injuries is still being assessed, initial reports indicate that at least one person has been transported to the hospital by ambulance. A spokesperson for the Limerick Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three units were dispatched to the scene to assist with the incident.

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution when approaching the collision site, reduce their speed, and follow all instructions from emergency personnel. The ongoing management of the scene is expected to cause continued delays, and updates on the road’s status will be provided as the situation evolves.
