The UK government has once again extended the deadline for individuals who previously worked in the UK to secure an enhanced state pension.
Eligible individuals with at least three years of national insurance contributions now have the opportunity to purchase up to 17 years’ worth of social insurance stamps, dating back to 2006, for as little as €3,640.
Among those who can benefit are hundreds of thousands of Irish citizens who spent time working in the UK. This scheme allows many to reach the minimum requirement of 10 years of national insurance contributions needed to qualify for a UK state pension. Others may use the additional years to increase the pension amount they are entitled to receive from the UK.
This extension provides a valuable opportunity for those seeking to maximize their retirement benefits.
