Gardaí in County Donegal have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body at a residence in the coastal town of Killybegs on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 12.20pm after receiving reports that a man was found unresponsive at a house on Harbour View Drive, a residential area in the busy fishing port. The man, believed to be in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The property was immediately sealed off by Gardaí to allow for a full forensic examination. The scene remained preserved on Sunday afternoon as investigators continued their work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and arrangements are currently underway for a post-mortem examination to be carried out. The local coroner has also been informed.
Gardaí stated that the outcome of the post-mortem will be critical in establishing the direction of their inquiry. At this time, the exact cause of death remains unknown, and authorities are keeping an open mind as they await further medical analysis.
In a public appeal, Gardaí are asking anyone who may have information related to the incident to come forward. Members of the public can contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 9858530, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
