CORK, IRELAND – The National Lottery winnings have brought a surge of excitement to Cork this weekend, with four separate players celebrating significant cash prizes, including a life-changing €1 million jackpot. The winning tickets and scratch cards were purchased across Midleton, Hollyhill, and the Cork city centre.

Midleton Man Scoops €1 Million Lotto Plus 1 Prize

The week’s biggest winner is a Cork man who claimed the top prize of €1,000,000 in the Lotto Plus 1 draw on Saturday, November 1st. The winning ticket was bought at Tesco, Market Green Shopping Centre, Midleton.

The winner initially kept the exciting news a secret, even from his wife, after confirming his win upon reading that the prize was unclaimed in the local paper.

“I didn’t tell anyone, not even my wife, and went to work as normal, although my head was absolutely scrambled,” he recounted.

He finally broke the news to his family that evening in dramatic fashion. After asking them what they would do if they won, he revealed, “When I told them I had the winning ticket, it was madness.”

His plans for the windfall include a celebratory family trip to Disneyland Paris and essential home renovations.

Syndicate Siblings Share €292k Joy

Further celebrations were in order for two Cork siblings who have maintained a syndicate for many years. They secured a Lotto Match 5 Plus Bonus prize of €292,572 with a ticket bought at Costcutter on Bridge St in Cork city.

One sibling plans to focus on home improvements, while the other is looking forward to installing a brand new kitchen.

Scratch Card Winner Plans Luxury Treats

Adding to the tally, a Cork woman won the top prize of €50,000 on a €5 Merry Money scratch card. The lucky card was purchased at Applegreen, Hollyhill, on Harbour View Rd.

Overwhelmed with the win, she spoke of her plans for a little self-indulgence.

“We are going to treat ourselves, the plan is a new car for my husband and a designer pair of heels and handbag for me — it really is the perfect excuse to enjoy a little luxury,” she said. “You never expect something like this to happen.”

These wins highlight a fortunate period for National Lottery players across County Cork.
