Sligo is gearing up for a St Patrick’s Day celebration with a unique twist in 2025, as the festivities will spotlight the legendary Queen Maeve and the town’s iconic Queen Maeve Square. The parade is scheduled to begin at 12 PM on Mail Coach Road, inviting the entire community to join in a creative showcase inspired by one of Ireland’s most enduring mythological figures.

The Sligo St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is calling on local groups, schools, and businesses to contribute entries that reflect this year’s theme, “Queen Maeve.” Participants are encouraged to unleash their creativity, weaving the historical and cultural significance of Queen Maeve into their designs and performances.

A spokesperson for the event shared, “The parade promises to be an unforgettable celebration of local culture, history, and creativity. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed, allowing viewers worldwide to join in the celebrations.”

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The festival will also feature two nights of live music performances in Queen Maeve Square, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors of all ages. In addition, a special collaboration with Sligo Rovers is set to add another layer of excitement to the celebrations. While details of the project remain under wraps, organizers assure that it will be a fun and engaging experience, with more information to be announced soon.

With its rich blend of tradition, history, and community spirit, Sligo’s St Patrick’s Day Parade is set to be a memorable event that shines a spotlight on the region’s cultural heritage and creative talent.
