Waterford, Ireland: The Kranthi Waterford Unit hosted a poignant memorial program titled “M. T. Ormakalde Nalukettu” to honor the legacy of M. T. Vasudevan Nair, a literary titan who enriched Malayalam literature for over seven decades. The event took place on Wednesday, January 8, at 6:30 pm in the Asian Shop hall near Waterford People’s Park.

The program was inaugurated by Rajan Devasya, Secretary of the Malayalam Ireland Organization. Delivering the keynote address, Jinu Mallassery, a State Committee Member of the Kerala Progressive Arts and Literature Samiti, highlighted M. T.’s unparalleled contribution to Malayalam literature, emphasizing how he elevated it to global recognition.

Prominent figures, including Niju Ann Philip, Kranthi National Secretary Shinith A.K., Loka Kerala Sabha member and AIC Waterford Branch Secretary Shaju Jose, and Moni Rajan, shared their heartfelt recollections of M. T. and his enduring impact on the world of literature.

The memorial program was presided over by Rahul Raveendran, Waterford Unit Secretary, while Unit J. Secretary Soumya Sasidharan welcomed attendees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Unit Treasurer Pradeep Cherukara.

The evening also featured a special song session showcasing melodies from M. T.’s cinematic works and a documentary screening highlighting his remarkable journey. Adding to the solemn atmosphere, Anoop John read a condolence note from M. T., and Dayanand KV delivered a memorial note in honor of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The event provided a platform for the Malayalam-speaking community in Waterford to come together and celebrate the timeless legacy of M. T. Vasudevan Nair, reaffirming his profound influence on literature and culture.
