An 11-year-old Irish girl tragically lost her life after falling from the seventh floor of a hotel in Alcúdia in Majorca, Spain. The incident occurred at the HYB Eurocalas Hotel in the resort area of Calas de Mallorca. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, where lifeguards and paramedics made valiant efforts to save the young girl.

Details of the Incident

The girl was found unresponsive at the bottom of the hotel’s swimming pool after apparently falling from the balcony. Lifeguards performed CPR, successfully reviving her before she was rushed to Son Espases Hospital in Palma in critical condition. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, she succumbed to her injuries two days later.

Response and Investigation

A routine police investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the fall. Preliminary reports suggest that the girl had fallen into the pool when her parents were not present. The local authorities are providing psychological support to the grieving family during this difficult time.

Increasing Concerns Over Balcony Safety

This tragic event has once again highlighted the dangers associated with balcony falls in tourist destinations. Over recent years, there have been several incidents involving tourists, particularly children, falling from balconies in holiday resorts. Authorities and hotel management are urged to reinforce safety measures and raise awareness among tourists about the risks.

Community Support

The local community in Mallorca and the girl’s hometown in Ireland have expressed their profound sorrow and solidarity with the family. Support initiatives and memorials are being organized to honour the memory of the young girl and provide comfort to her family.
