A man has been formally charged in connection with a mass stabbing on a busy UK train and is also facing accusations related to an earlier incident on a separate train on the same day.

The accused, Anthony Williams, 32, of Peterborough, is scheduled to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court later today.

Charges Related to LNER Train Attack

The charges stem from the attacks on the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) service traveling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday. For this incident, Williams is accused of:

  • Ten counts of attempted murder
  • One count of actual bodily harm
  • One count of possession of a bladed article

Charges for Earlier Incident

Williams has also been charged with additional offences linked to an incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in the early hours of the same day:

  • One count of attempted murder
  • One count of possession of a bladed article

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy of the British Transport Police stated that the criminal investigation and support for victims remain a priority. He also confirmed that the investigation is examining other possible linked offences and stressed the importance of avoiding any public statements that might prejudice the ongoing legal proceedings.
