Mitchelstown, Co Cork — A man in his 40s has died following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the M8 Motorway in Co Cork last night. The incident, involving a car and a pedestrian, happened at approximately 9:15 pm on the northbound carriageway between Junction 11 and Junction 12, near Mitchelstown.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was uninjured in the collision.
