LONDON — An 18-year-old nursery worker in the UK has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the sexual abuse of two three-year-old boys.

The offender, identified as Thomas Valerie, was working at the nursery during the summer months. His duties included taking children to the toilet and helping them change clothes. The crimes took place between July and August 2024 at a nursery in Surrey, which cannot be named for legal reasons.

Judge Claire Harden-Frost described the ordeal faced by the children and their parents as “absolutely heartbreaking.” Valerie was found guilty of sexually abusing the children following a trial at Staines Youth Court earlier this year. Crucially, the court also found evidence that the defendant had captured indecent images of the children.

Thomas, who appeared in court wearing a white polo shirt and a black coat, showed no visible reaction as the sentence was handed down.
