Two individuals sustained injuries in a suspected gas explosion at the Tulsi Indian Restaurant in Castlebar, County Mayo, on Sunday evening. The explosion occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the establishment located on Lower Charles Street.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, closing the area to traffic while conducting rescue and safety operations. The injured individuals, believed to be employees of the restaurant, were transported to Mayo University Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Local residents reported hearing a loud blast, which caused significant damage to the restaurant’s roof and alarmed the surrounding community. Emergency personnel, including fire and medical teams, remain on-site to ensure the area is safe and secure.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with preliminary findings pointing toward a gas explosion as the likely cause. Nearby buildings and businesses have also been inspected for potential damage.

Further updates on the situation are expected as emergency services continue their work.
