International Yoga Day 2024 Celebration in Sligo

The Indian Association of Sligo (IAS) celebrated International Yoga Day with a grand event held at the Sligo Tennis Club on 28th June 2024. The celebration was graced by the presence of renowned yoga instructor Ms. Tara McEvoy from Sligo Yoga Centre and Garda Sergeant Alan Commons, who was the esteemed guest for the event.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the President of the Indian Association of Sligo and Peace Commissioner, Anirban Bhanja. He expressed his gratitude to all attendees for joining in the celebration and emphasized the importance of yoga in fostering physical and mental well-being.

As a gesture of appreciation, a flower bouquet was presented to Ms. Tara McEvoy by Moncy Varghese, the Treasurer of IAS. Similarly, Garda Sergeant Alan Commons was honoured with a flower bouquet presented by Divyashri Anilkumar, the auditor of IAS. The presentation of bouquets symbolized the association’s gratitude for their contributions to the event and the community.

Ms. Tara McEvoy led a captivating yoga session, guiding participants through a series of asanas and breathing exercises. Her expertise and engaging teaching style captivated the attendees, many of whom were new to yoga. The session highlighted the benefits of yoga in promoting relaxation, flexibility, and overall health.

Garda Sergeant Alan Commons, in his brief address, praised the Indian Association of Sligo for organizing such a meaningful event. He underscored the value of community activities in strengthening social bonds and enhancing mutual understanding among diverse cultural groups.

The event concluded with a group meditation session, leaving participants feeling rejuvenated and inspired. The celebration not only promoted the practice of yoga but also served as a platform for cultural exchange and community building.

The Indian Association of Sligo’s commitment to fostering health and harmony within the community was evident throughout the event. As the celebration came to a close, attendees expressed their eagerness for more such events in the future, reflecting the success of this year’s International Yoga Day celebration.
