Young Boy Dies Following Machinery Incident in Co. Donegal

Dungloe, Co. Donegal — A nine-year-old boy has died after a fatal incident involving machinery at a premises outside the town of Dungloe, Co. Donegal, on Friday night. The tragedy has deeply saddened the local community, where the boy’s family is well-known.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene late Friday evening. Despite their rapid response, the child sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson confirmed the incident. “Gardaí and emergency services responded to a fatal incident at a premises in Dungloe, Co. Donegal yesterday evening, Friday 22nd August 2025. A male child was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the spokesperson said.

The boy’s body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the official cause of death.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and is expected to attend the scene to begin its investigation. Gardaí confirmed that a file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court.
