A man has been charged following a series of serious incidents involving a car hijacking in Dublin and two robberies in County Wicklow over the weekend.
The first incident occurred on Saturday evening in Walkinstown, Dublin 12. A woman in her 30s was approached while sitting in her black Nissan Qashqai on St. Peter’s Road. The suspect allegedly threatened the woman, forcing her to exit the vehicle before taking control of it and fleeing the scene.
Gardaí quickly launched an investigation into the hijacking, believing that the stolen vehicle was subsequently used in two separate robbery incidents later that evening.
At approximately 8.15 pm, Gardaí were alerted to a robbery at a business premises on Dublin Road in Bray, Co Wicklow. It is reported that a man entered the store wielding a weapon, threatened staff members, and stole a quantity of alcohol before fleeing.
A second robbery occurred roughly 30 minutes later at another business in Rathnew, Co Wicklow. In a manner similar to the earlier incident, a man allegedly entered the premises armed with a weapon, threatened employees, and made off with a sum of cash.
Following coordinated investigations, Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s on Sunday morning in connection with all three incidents. The suspect has since been charged and is scheduled to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning.
The Garda investigation remains ongoing, and officers continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information related to the incidents to come forward.
This series of events underscores the Gardaí’s ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime and protect communities across Dublin and Wicklow. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity promptly.
