In another unsettling event in Limerick city, a teenager has been hospitalized following a shooting incident, intensifying concerns over the surge of violence on the city’s south side. The incident took place around 8 PM yesterday near Crecora Avenue in Ballinacurra Weston, a neighborhood grappling with escalating tensions.

Authorities confirmed that the young man, in his late teens, sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the attack and is currently recuperating at University Hospital Limerick. His condition has been reported as stable, providing a slight relief amid the grim circumstances.

A Garda spokesperson stated, “We are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of a firearm in Ballinacurra Weston. The shooting not only left one young man injured but also rattled the community.” The investigation is ongoing, with GardaĆ exploring possible connections between this and other recent violent episodes in the area.

This recent incident highlights a troubling pattern of violence that has beset the south side of Limerick, prompting calls for increased security measures and community interventions to stem the tide of aggression that has marred the area.
