Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, is preparing for an influx of over 3.6 million passengers as expats return from summer holidays before schools reopen on August 25. The passenger surge marks one of the busiest travel periods of the year for the UAE.

Passenger Traffic Peaks on August 15
According to the Dubai Media Office, DXB will experience its highest traffic on Friday, August 15, when over 290,000 travellers are expected to pass through its terminals. Daily arrivals are projected to average 280,000 passengers between August 13 and 25, as families, students, and professionals return from their home countries.

Operational Readiness for Peak Season
Dubai Airports has initiated enhanced operational measures in coordination with the oneDXB community—including airlines, regulatory authorities, and commercial partners—to ensure smooth passenger flow during the back-to-school rush. This includes streamlining check-in processes, increasing staff deployment, and improving passenger guidance across terminals.

Another Record Year for DXB
The current travel wave follows a record-setting first half of 2025, when Dubai International Airport welcomed 46 million passengers. January 2025 alone set an all-time monthly record with 8.5 million travellers.

India remains DXB’s largest source market with 5.9 million passengers so far this year, followed by Saudi Arabia, the UK, Pakistan, and the US. With 92.3 million passengers recorded in 2024, the airport is on track to handle around 96 million passengers in 2025, further cementing its status as a global travel hub.

For travellers flying in during this peak period, Dubai Airports advises early arrival, online check-in where possible, and allowance for extra time to clear immigration and security checks.
