Dublin, Ireland, : The Health Service Executive (HSE) has been directed to pay a significant compensation sum equivalent to one year’s salary, totaling €86,717, to a female pharmacist who was subjected to repeated sexual harassment by a senior colleague in the workplace.

The ruling, issued by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), criticized the HSE’s handling of the complaint. Adjudicator Conor Stokes delivered a “hard-hitting” judgment, finding that the HSE “has failed the complainant” due primarily to the excessive delay in investigating the woman’s sexual harassment claim. The compensation reflects the loss suffered by the pharmacist as a result of the employer’s failure to provide a safe and responsive workplace environment.
