Rental prices in Waterford City have increased by 7.4% in the final quarter of 2024, according to the latest Daft.ie Rental Price Report. The average rent in the city now stands at €1,651.

Across the rest of Waterford, market rents saw an even sharper rise, climbing 10% year-on-year. The average listed rent outside the city has reached €1,646, marking a 70% increase compared to the rental rates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nationwide, rental prices rose by 5.7% in 2024, showing a slight slowdown from the 6.8% increase recorded in 2023.

The country’s rental market continues to struggle with supply shortages. As of February 1st, fewer than 2,300 homes were available to rent nationwide. This represents a 25% drop compared to the same date last year and is significantly lower than the 2015-2019 average of nearly 4,400 available rentals.
