Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road crash at Rusheen, Riverstown, near the Sligo/Leitrim border on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services responded to the collision involving a lorry and a motorcycle at approximately 9:20am. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Sligo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The Coroner has been notified.

The lorry driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The L1303 remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Diversions are in place via Riverstown and the R284.

Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash-cam footage from the L1303 between 9am and 9:30am, to contact Ballymote Garda Station on 071 9189500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
